چکیده

Abstract In Tunisia, the oak forest is essentially restricted to north-west (Kroumirie and Mogods), which wettest zone of country. It forms ecosystems great ecological socio-economic interest. This a significant source income for local population. addition, it contributes soil conservation home rich diversified fauna flora offers region picturesque landscape. precious fragile capital currently threatened under effect various pressures, mainly browsing young plants being reconstituted vegetative competition regarding resources environment. Hence interest in studying intra interspecific variability oak, this study based on morphological physiological comparison two species Quercus suber canariensis with their cohabitation same area, was carried out by multivariate biostatistical analyzes using set data including traits, isotopic analysis leaves, water use efficiency, as well phenolic composition antioxidant activities leaves extracts. The results showed that leaf morphology efficiency are discriminating factors differentiation choose right specie will be used reforestation. Q. growing Bni Mtir characterized high intrinsic water-use biomass recovery. These let us suppose perfect reforestation given its ability produce large amount less water, what environmentalists demand.

Deciphering cork formation in Quercus suber

The family of Fagaceae, comprises about 900 species, among them the best-known group of this family is the oaks, genus Quercus, that are commonly used as timber or for cork production. Cork is produced by Q. suber, an evergreen oak with major economic and environmental importance for Mediterranean region, in particular for Portugal that is the leading producer of this material. Besides, the eco...

Responses of Quercus Suber Seedlings under Different Light and Water Treatments. Greenhouse and Field Experiments

The objective of this study is to understand the response of Quercus suber seedlings to light and water, two limiting factors of their growth and survival in Mediterranean woody plants. Greenhouse and field experiments were conducted to contrast the results from both types of experiments. At the greenhouse experiment, Quercus suber seedlings were grown at three treatments of light (3%, 27% and ...

Xylem hydraulic adjustment and growth response of Quercus canariensis Willd. to climatic variability.

Global change challenges forest adaptability at the distributional limit of species. We studied ring-porous Quercus canariensis Willd. xylem traits to analyze how they adjust to spatio-temporal variability in climate. Trees were sampled along altitudinal transects, and annual time series of radial growth (ring width (RW)) and several earlywood vessel (EV) traits were built to analyze their rela...

Quercus nigra and Quercus alba

lnvestigaltons into the nature of desiccation-sensitive, or recalcitant, seed behavior have as yet failed to identify exact causes of this phenomenon. Experiments with Quercus nigra L. and Quercus alba L. were conducted to examine physiological and biochemical changes brought about by seed desiccation and to determine if there were predictable changes in seed moisture content, m enthalpy (heat ...

Phylogeographical variation of chloroplast DNA in cork oak (Quercus suber).

BACKGROUND AND AIMS In the last decades, the geographical location of the centre of origin of Quercus suber (cork oak), a strictly western Mediterranean oak species, has been the subject of controversy. METHODS RFLP variation over the whole chloroplast DNA molecule and PCR-RFLPs over seven specific cpDNA fragments were analysed phylogeographically to reconstruct the evolutionary history of co...
